For people who just want to stay on top of the news or who are actually in a same sex relationship and want to get married, learning where gay weddings are legal is obviously quite important. Unfortunately the majority of the world still frowns upon same sex marriage and so there are only certain cities and towns where gay weddings are actually considered legal. However there are still many parts of the U.S. and other countries around the world that oppose gay marriage and where it’s not legal. This means that in many cases if a gay couple wants to get married they have to travel outside of their hometown in order to do so.

Canada and Mexico are two countries that allow gay weddings and in fact, which have for quite some time now. In the United States Connecticut, District of Columbia, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont are allow gay weddings. One of the biggest issues with gay weddings in the States recently is over California trying to ban same sex marriage while this is where one of the largest populations of same sex couples lives. Europe is one of the countries that offer the most equality, because there are so many different cities and towns that allow for gay weddings.

Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Sweden and Switzerland are just a few examples of the different places that a same sex couple could go to if they wanted to get married. There are other locations around the world that allow for gay weddings too, but these are the main ones and those that most gay couples travel to if their hometown doesn’t allow it. Same sex couples therefore really need to make an effort to be aware of this and stay on top of more news on this. Gay rights are always a hot topic around the world and there are always new bills being passed.

We always hear celebrities talking about gay marriage and what it means to them. It’s California’s amendment to ban same sex marriages and if it’s passed now, even those same sex couples who were already married will not be considered so. One of the states with the biggest issues with gay weddings is California. Although California was actually one of the first states to allow for gay marriage, there was recently a bill passed that overturned that decision and now any future gay weddings will not be considered as valid.

While everyone has their own point of view, it’s certainly frustrating for same sex couples who want to marry. It’s expected that over the next decade the number of locations around the world that allow for gay marriages will increase tenfold. Then it’s either a matter of waiting and hoping that a bill will be passed or choosing to travel elsewhere to get married. Gay weddings are beautiful and hopefully soon will be on the same level.
